The Via Ferrata of Leadership

Supported, challenged, and fully accountable.

I describe my approach as a Via Ferrata, a protected mountain route where climbers are always anchored and supported, yet fully exposed to the reality of the ascent. The route provides security, but the climber remains responsible for every step.

This metaphor captures how I work with leaders. I provide a protected, confidential space where leaders can think rigorously, reflect honestly, and explore difficult questions. At the same time, I challenge assumptions, surface blind spots, and help leaders move decisively when the terrain shifts.

My work blends executive coaching and strategic thought partnership. At times, the focus is on leadership presence, behaviour, and performance habits. At others, it is on decision-making, complexity, and navigating ambiguity at senior levels.

The form of the work follows the need. Engagements are bespoke and shaped by context, whether through structured one-to-one programmes, leadership team workshops, or dedicated thinking space within organisations.

How the work takes shape

My work typically takes on of two forms:

Executive coaching

Focused on leadership effectiveness, behaviour, presence, and performance habits.

Strategic thought partnership

Focused on decision-making, complexity, judgement and navigating ambiguity at senior levels.

Engagements are bespoke and shaped by context. They may include:

  • Structured one-to-one programmes over 3, 6, or 12 months

  • Targeted leadership team workshops to clarify purpose, improve alignment, and strengthen performance

  • Dedicated "drop-in" days within organisations, offering confidential, agenda-free thinking space at moments that matter

The form follows the need, not the other way around.
